St John Ambulance Enterprise Bargaining – UPDATE
The Victorian Ambulance Union Incorporated (VAU) is in the process of finalising a log of claims on behalf of members who work at St John Ambulance Victoria (St John) with a view to beginning bargaining for a new enterprise agreement to cover those workers.
Currently all VAU members who work at St John are employed pursuant to the Ambulance & Patient Transport Industry Award 2020 (Award) (which provides the minimum standard for wages and conditions) and employment contracts.
Employees who work for organisations who are covered by an enterprise agreement typically receive higher wages and better conditions than those employed under the Award.
The VAU are in the process of preparing a log of claims which will ultimately reflect the terms of a proposed enterprise agreement. In doing so we are also ensuring that the log of claims takes into consideration existing Award and contractual conditions.
Members of the VAU executive previously attempted to negotiate a new enterprise agreement with St John in 2018. However, we only had a small number of members, and that in-principal agreement was voted down by the workforce.
Since setting up the VAU, we have built union membership at St John which is more than ten-fold what we had previously. This places us all in a strong position to deliver a good outcome for our members at St John. The more members we have, the stronger we will be at the bargaining table, so speak to your colleagues about joining the VAU so that they too can be represented during bargaining.
We will have further information to provide shortly and strongly encourage members to join the conversation on VAU NEPT Members Facebook Group.
Members will be asked to endorse the log of claims before it is served on St John.
In solidarity,
