Ambulance Victoria Lateral Transfer Process
The Victorian Ambulance Union Incorporated (VAU) has been informed that Ambulance Victoria (AV) have communicated to staff that the most recent Team Manager Lateral Transfer process is to be rescinded after several flaws were uncovered in the process relating to independence, fairness and transparency concerns. This includes (identified by AV):
- the absence of an independent member on the panel, where a panel was used;
- the assessment matrix and decision-making criteria were not readily available to the applicants subject to the decision;
- there is evidence of inconsistency in the decision-making process;
- a scoring matrix was not used across all regions for assessment; and
- there is no selection report or documentation as to the rationale for decision making where a competitive selection occurred, in one region the method used was Area Manager determination of ‘best fit’.
The issues identified above mirror the many concerns raised by members and the union over many recruitment processes. While it is positive that AV have identified these concerns publicly, it does little to assist the many members who were advised informally that they have been successful only to have that offer rescinded.
The VAU have spoken with a number of extremely distressed members who have been affected by this process.
The VAU have requested that a meeting be held between AV and affected employees to discuss this matter further. Members will be informed when a time and date for a meeting is set.
Members who have been adversely affected by this process are encouraged to make contact with the VAU at [email protected].
