The VAU is receiving a lot of questions about when they will have the opportunity to vote on the new in-principle AV Enterprise Agreement 2024.
This is the schedule that the parties are working towards.
By 8 November 2024 – All drafting of the AVEA 2024 agreement should be finalised.
11 – 22 November 2024 – The draft Agreement goes to the Government for final approval.
25 November – 1 December 2024 – The draft agreement is circulated to the workforce for seven days prior to voting. This is a compulsory process under the Fair Work Act.
2 – 16 December 2024 – Employees have the opportunity to vote to accept or reject the agreement.
If the vote is successful, the agreement will be provided to the Fair Work Commission to be approved. Unfortunately, there is no predictable timeframe for this part of the process. The Agreement comes into effect seven days after the Agreement is approved by the FWC.
It is likely that the Agreement will take effect from early 2025, however wage increases will be back paid to 21 October 2024. Further annual wage increases and new increments will take effect from 21 October each year of the Agreement.
