UPDATE ON ORGANISER MATTERS
The VAU has five organisers who work across both the public and private sectors. All VAU organisers can handle a wide range of member queries and work together using their own specialities, experience and expert knowledge.
What do our Public and Public Sector Organisers do at the VAU?
- Respond to Member Queries
- Work alongside the legal team in matters that often effect the broader membership such as:
- Payroll delays
- Branch transfers and AP12 allocations
- Group grievances
- Compliance with NEPT Regulations
- Responses to proposed changes to workplace policy and procedures
- Recruitment disputes
- Graduate training
- Regional FWA process
- Monitor all Report a Workplace Issue submission and respond as required
- Enterprise Bargaining negotiations
- Represent VAU in many consultative committees for example, AV/VAU Consultative Committee, TZV Union Consultation Committee, NPT Joint Consultation Committee
- Represent VAU in many industry specific focus groups for example, Government funding of training/education in health sector, Prevention of Manual Handling & Mental Injury in Victorian Public Hospitals
- Consultation with WorkSafe, Department of Health, Department of Emergency Services and SaferCare Victoria
- Recruitment of new members
- Present to new members at inductions
- Content creation and delivery of VAU Delegate and WorkSafe Approved HSR Training
- Advise and represent members at:
- Grievance meetings
- Contract review/negotiations
- Lower level PSBD matters
- FWA negotiations
- Roster Disputes
- Return to Work and WorkCover Issues
- Payroll and allowances issues
- Casual Conversion
- Branch Transfer and AP 12 Allocations (AV)
- Disciplinary procedures and meetings
- Performance procedures and meetings
- Bullying and harassment procedures and meetings
- General advice to members regarding OHS matters
- Assisting HSRs in resolving OHS matters including expert advice, meetings, issuing Provisional Improvement Notices, cease work directions and consulting with external stakeholders including WorkSafe during disputes.
