AV EBA 2024 – FLEXIBLE SHIFTS, SHIFT ALLOCATION AND RELIEVING PARAMEDICS – Part 1
Metro changes
Under the Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2024, there are several changes to the operation of reserve/flexibility in the metropolitan region.
Previously members who were rostered as a Temporary Reserve Paramedic were paid $49 per shift regardless of whether they were rostered to a single branch for reserve roster cycle or fully flexible (day to day reserve).
Under the new Agreement, there are now two variants.
1 Roster Cycle Allocation Paramedic (RCAP).
2 Flexible Shift Paramedic (FSP).
RCAP
Members who are rostered to a single branch for a reserve roster cycle will be paid $65 per shift (Roster Cycle Allocation Allowance (clause 44.6a(i)). There is no requirement to be contactable outside of shift time as was previously required (clause 44.8).
FSP
Members who are rostered to be Flexible Shifts (day to day reserve) will be paid $100 per shift – (Flexible Shift Paramedic Allowance (clause 44.6a(ii)). Flexible Shift Paramedics are still required to comply with the contact requirements (clause 44.9).
There is no change to the requirement to work a total of two roster cycles per year as a Temporary Reserve Paramedic (members may be requested to work an additional roster cycle on reserve) (clause 44.2). Time as RCAP or FSP will count towards the yearly total.
In both scenarios, members are entitled to the travel provisions in clause 44.10.
