The VAU is forming a working group in 2019 to design and implement an Ambulance-specific Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program for VAU members.  We are currently seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to take part in establishing this program.

As registered health professionals, there will be increased requirements for members to complete CPD over coming years. While some organisations such as Ambulance Victoria provide training days, it is expected there may be additional requirements for VAU members to complete their own self sourced education and learning.

It is the desire of the VAU to provide this to all members.

There will be a number of education options available, but it is essential that any CPD program is of extremely high quality, clinically relevant to ambulance and easy to use. The VAU is also developing a new website which will include a CPD portal which will allow members to track their CPD points and access online education.

We have an enormous knowledge base within our membership base and we want to tap into your expertise so we can design a high quality CPD program. If you have an interest in professional education and would like to contribute to the VAU CPD working group, please send an expression of interest with a brief description of your experience and why you would like to take part to [email protected].

The VAU is also developing a new training program for members who work in Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT). This training will be provided free of charge to all NEPT members. Unfortunately NEPT companies provide very little quality clinical training for their workforce. The VAU will run face to face training days and online education for NEPT members.

This is an exciting new venture for the VAU and are looking forward to delivering high quality CPD to our members.
