Recently the Victorian Ambulance Union Incorporated (VAU) made requests to Ambulance Victoria (AV) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to bring forward improved parental leave entitlements agreed to under the new Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2020 (AVEA 2020).

Under the AVEA 2020, parental leave will increase from 10 weeks to 14 weeks while partner leave will increase from 1 to 2 weeks.

Members expecting children have expressed frustration with delays in having the final draft of the agreement approved by the Victorian Government and the associated delay in being able to access the improved parental leave entitlements. In response, for the past several weeks the VAU has been lobbying AV, DHHS and the Victorian Government to bring forward access to the new parental leave entitlements.

We are pleased to inform members that new parental leave entitlements for those covered by the AVEA 2020 will be accessible for members who begin paid parental leave from 30 July 2020.

REMEMBER TO CAST YOUR VOTE TO SECURE THE IMPROVED WAGES AND CONDITIONS OF THE AVEA 2020

Members with questions about these entitlements or the AVEA 2020 are welcome to contact the VAU at [email protected].
