Patient Transport Ambulance – Pandemic Meal Access
The Victorian Ambulance Union Incorporated (VAU) has been lobbying Government in relation to pandemic arrangements for our patient transport ambulance members, especially in relation to access to meal facilities.
The VAU can announce that patient transport members will have access to free meals at selected hospitals in Metro and Rural areas. This is part of a wellbeing initiative funded by Government.
This will be organised through food vouchers and actual meals provided. At this stage it will start in December and run for two months. We have already advised Government that we will be lobbying for this to be extended for the duration of the pandemic peak – where there is difficulty getting access to meal facilities at all times of the day.
Further details will be provided soon about locations and specific arrangements at each health service. Some will start at different times.
Health services need to communicate to NEPT providers how, when, and where to access this program. Separately health services are being directed that members will need to have access to staff amenities including to heat food.
This initiative would not have occurred without the VAU having strong membership amongst patient transport ambulance members. Make sure you let any non-members grabbing a free feed know that it is courtesy of the VAU.
