Surge Workforce + Abuse Towards Rosters Members
Today the Victorian Ambulance Union Incorporated (VAU) wrote to Ambulance Victoria (AV) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tony Walker to request that AV begin to wind back surge workforce arrangements and transition back to our normal clinical response model.
Our surge workforce has been an invaluable element in the pandemic response and their contribution cannot be overstated.
The VAU have been very clear that we need to return to pre-pandemic working arrangements as soon as cases begin to ease. With COVID19 hospital numbers falling, the work to safely transition back to pre-pandemic workforce arrangements needs to begin.
Sadly, some of our members who work in the rosters department are reporting aggressive behaviour while speaking with members working on road including in relation to surge workforce arrangements.
Tempers are high and members in all areas of the service are burned out. But our members in rosters are no more responsible for the situation on road than a paramedic is responsible for a delay answering a 000 call. Neither deserve to be yelled at.
As always members are welcome to report issues to the union via [email protected] and our website.
In Solidarity.
