Many members have heard that a NSW Ambulance paramedic had been stabbed while on duty, and was transported to Liverpool hospital in the early hours of the morning of Friday 14 April 2023. Tragically the paramedic did not survive.

The VAU understands the paramedic had only been in the job for about a year.

This is a devastating loss for their family, colleagues, and for the entire emergency services workforce who are reminded just how dangerous their job can be. The threat of occupational violence is real and can result in devastating consequences for our members.

On behalf of all members of the Victorian Ambulance Union, we would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to family, friends, and members of NSW Ambulance Service for the tragic loss of a much-loved colleague.

The VAU has reached out to the Health Services Union in NSW and expressed our condolences and message of support.
