Vaccination status – Get the Right Advice
The Victorian Ambulance Union (VAU) has become aware that attempts have been made by a small number of staff to falsify proof of vaccination. This has occurred across a number of employers.
The VAU strongly advise members to be aware that providing falsified documents to your employer will be deemed serious and wilful misconduct and is likely to result in disciplinary action including termination of your employment as well as investigation by AHPRA.
We are also aware that a number of General Practitioners have been investigated for inappropriately providing medical exemptions to health workers. Please be aware that attempting to fraudulently obtain a medical exemption or fraudulently claiming to have a medical condition in order to obtain a medical exemption may also be deemed serious and wilful misconduct and is likely to result in disciplinary action including termination of your employment as well as investigation by AHPRA.
In some circumstances, these matters may be referred for criminal investigation.
GET THE RIGHT ADVICE!
Please be aware that there is an enormous amount of deliberately misleading advice being circulated by organisations and individuals who are attempting to seize on the vaccine debate for their own purposes.
We are aware that scripted questions and statements are being provided to workers who are being encouraged to challenge their employer on illegitimate grounds. This has led to several circumstances where members have engaged in exchanges with their employer which has placed them at risk of termination.
Chances are if you have fallen for this approach, you are one of the people stood down from their shifts this week and facing the end of your career in ambulance.
If this is you, please be aware that there are parties involved in the vaccine debate who have no interest in protecting your employment. They prey on confused and vulnerable people who they can use to promote their cause.
Please think about how much hard work you have put in to be where you are now. Take the time to contact the VAU and get advice on how to protect your employment and continue your career in ambulance.
