As members will be aware, a Direction that all health workers in Victoria must be vaccinated against COVID19 to perform their role in healthcare facilities has been issued by the Chief Health Officer. All healthcare services in Victoria are required to comply with this Direction and ensure all staff who attend their facilities are vaccinated against COVID19.

The Victorian Ambulance Union Incorporated (VAU) has been very clear in advice to members about the risk of being terminated if you refuse to follow a lawful and reasonable direction by your employer to be vaccinated unless you have a legitimate medical exemption.

The window for unvaccinated members to be able to get vaccinated and return to work is rapidly closing. The VAU take this opportunity to reiterate our advice to members.

For your safety, the safety of your colleagues and patients and to protect your employment, we strongly advise members to get vaccinated against COVID19.

Members have asked what can be done by the VAU to support them if they refuse to get vaccinated and are terminated. It is our strong advice to get vaccinated against COVID19 so that you are not terminated.

Keeping members safe and protecting your employment is core to our business. Please don’t be persuaded by spurious advice from organisations who have never taken any interest in you or your employment and have no experience in representing our members.
