Australia’s first ambulance specific HSR course

It is with great excitement that we advise members that after a significant amount of work, the Victorian Ambulance Union (VAU) has just received approval to run Health and Safety Representative (HSR) OHS training. The VAU will begin running initial HSR training and refresher training over the coming months.

While most HSR courses are generic and aimed at covering health and safety issues across a broad variety of industries and workplaces, the VAU course has been developed as Australia’s first ambulance industry specific HSR course. It will be open to any eligible HSR from any industry, however the content and examples will be specifically relevant to the ambulance industry in Victoria.

The VAU would like to congratulate and thank our OHS and WorkCover Specialist Yiota Paraskevopoulos who wrote and developed the course over the past year, and VAU executive member Ward Jongebloed, whose idea it was to set up an OHS training function at the VAU.

Details about future training dates will be released soon.
