Yesterday the VAU was contacted by the new Chief Operations Officer Libby Murphy who advised that the Ambulance Victoria (AV) would implement a new process to assist members in getting off shift on time. AV have advised the following:

The VAU can announce that patient transport members will have access to free meals at selected hospitals in Metro and Rural areas. This is part of a wellbeing initiative funded by Government.

The VAU provided a detailed 80 page submission drawn from 164 written submissions provided by our members. We also received an enormous amount of anecdotal evidence from members and delegates and met with VEOHRC on nearly 25 occasions to provide this information.

You may not be aware, but clause 45 of the Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2020 (Agreement), which was agreed to by AV, gives members the power to refuse to work unreasonable overtime

The Victorian Ambulance Union Incorporated has been very clear in advice to members about the risk of being terminated if you refuse to follow a lawful and reasonable direction by your employer to be vaccinated unless you have a legitimate medical exemption.
